Poster：Wu, Bo-shan ╱ Post date：2012-05-15 Asia plays a very important role in global politics and economic activities. Relations between Asia and Latin America have become increasingly closer due to globalization. With the Republic of China (Taiwan) as a member state in Asia, and with Taiwan having a great number of diplomatic allies in Latin America and the Caribbean, Tamkang University established its E-Learning Executive Master’s Program in Asian Studies in accordance with the school’s policies on internationalization, digitalization, and future-orientation using its distinguished faculty and scholars. This program aims at recruiting highly capable and experienced individuals from Latin America and the Caribbean; and seeks to promote a higher awareness and understanding, as well as quality research on Asia and international affairs.
The E-Learning Executive Master’s Program in Asian Studies at Tamkang University was established in 2012. It is the first distance learning master’s program in Taiwan. Students are outstanding individuals taken from Latin American countries, where many are engaged in full-time jobs. All the faculty members in this program have solid research backgrounds, including professors from the Graduate Institute of the Americas, the Graduate Institute of Asian Studies, the Graduate Institute of Mainland Studies, and the Graduate Institute of International Affairs and Strategic Studies of Tamkang University. This program offers courses in Asian culture, Asian history, Asian Economy, Asian Politics, and Asian Security, all of which are taught in the Spanish language. With the technical support from the Distance Education Development Section, this program achieves distance learning and online interaction with students through the operation of its Moodle platform and its Adobe Connect online simultaneous courses.
